Week of Rivers Returns for 2027
Madawaska Kanu Centre
For paddlers looking to make the most of Ontario and Quebec’s best river runs, the Madawaska Kanu Center’s Week of Rivers program returns in 2027 with two opportunities to join the adventure. Designed for intermediate and advanced kayakers and canoeists, this five-day guided experience combines world-class whitewater with the comfort and hospitality that have made MKC a favorite destination for paddlers for decades.
Course Overview
Week of Rivers is designed to bring intermediate kayakers and canoeists to some of MKC’s favorite river sections. Over the course of five days, participants paddle a variety of classic runs while developing river-reading skills, safety awareness, confidence, and technique.
« We saw some gorgeous parts of Ontario and Quebec and were taken great care of by all the MKC staff.»
This program is intended for intermediate and advanced paddlers with experience in Class III whitewater. Kayakers should have a solid roll.
Every shuttle, river plan, and piece of logistics is organized by MKC, allowing paddlers to focus on what matters most: time on the water.
Possible sections include the Madawaska and Petawawa Rivers, the Gatineau, the Upper Rouge, and the Minden Wildwater Preserve on the Gull River. The week often concludes with a memorable run on the Ottawa River, followed by OWL Rafting’s signature Pontoon BBQ cruise back to base.
After each day on the river, paddlers return to the Madawaska Kanu Centre and its sister company, OWL Rafting, on the banks of the Ottawa River.
Accommodation options range from shared lodge rooms and dormitories to campsites, with meal packages available throughout the week. Participants enjoy hearty breakfasts, trail lunches, delicious dinners, and après-paddling snacks, all prepared with MKC’s commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
