For the 15th time, Kayak Session Magazine, with the Paddler Guide Gear Lab, is organizing the Short Film of the Year Awards! Last year’s Short Film Awards was full of amazing entries! The depth and range of the entries really stood out, and we’re excited to see what you have to share with us this year.
Beyond the action, more and more films are leaning into strong narratives and purposeful themes, using paddlesports as a lens to explore culture, environment, and human connection. We hope to see this trend again this year. While we still get as excited about action-packed videos, that balance between kayak porn and meaning is what gives the awards their relevance today, so here’s to another edition of the contest!
The rules are simple: your film must be under 15 minutes long and in full HD (1920 x 1080 px).
We encourage filmmakers to use their craft not only to entertain, but to inform, challenge, and inspire audiences.
