Raft Face Plant on the Molenaars River(#8 Carnage for All 2019)

Andrew Kellett, owner of a Cape Town based rafting outfit, Gravity Adventures puts his mates through their paces on a local kayak run an hour out of the Mother City. Traditionally we kayak this river just after the rains. It is renowned for some epic carnage with kayaks going missing frequently due to the speed of the river and the vegetation on the banks. We’ve rafted this river once before in the 90’s and thought we might capture it on film this time around. I have yet to make it down the 8km without falling out or flipping the raft! This was a challenging level , medium high as there was fast flow as well as plenty of rocks to avoid. The carnage was close to the end when I decided to hit the small hole head on, ‘ just for fun’, but the little 14 ft raft stopped dead and it was all over.
