2015 Easter Corsica Kayak Sessions – April 6-10th, a Whitewater Festival For All

The 2015 Easter Corsica Kayak Sessions is back! Paddlers from all over the world come together in April (6-10 th) to celebrate the start of the European paddling season with sunny days, legendary runs, and good times around the campfire. If you are a veteran of this event, we look forward to seeing you back; if you have never been, put it on your calendar for April 2015 and start planning now. Once again, this could be the very last chance to paddle the classic Rizzaneze River. Remember, the sooner you book your ferry, the cheaper it will be. Hope to see you there!

>>> NEW in 2015: Creek boat test camp, whitewater Sup Demo, Open air movie nights, and the Josef Haas memorial, a friendly event held on the tavignano river on Thrusday April 9th, followed by the traditional festival party! (so if you come and see us only one day out of your week, make it for thursday…!)

NO PLAN, NO PROGRAM! The Plan is NO PLAN ; everyone can be on their own schedule. The idea is to gather every evening, watch videos, exchange about experiences, and party… If you are on your own, or with a group that have never been to Corsica, you will find all the info you need on what rivers runs, what difficulty, put in location (and take out…), share shuttles etc etc…

Organized and driven with the same concept for the past 6 years, the 2015 gathering will take place on April 06-10 th. (Welcome drink and snacks – (should will call that a party?) – on the eve of the 6th…). With its exceptional whitewater and beautiful scenery, Corsica is a great place for paddlers to bring friends and family for a week of paddling and exploring and hanging out. The event is a laid back and informal gathering – folks can choose what to paddle each day and have plenty of folks to paddle with. Evenings belong to the sharing of stories, videos, slide shows, food, and, of course, fine local beer and wine!

Come paddle, hang out, and enjoy the Isle of Beauty. Beginners and intermediates do not feel excluded, the Tavignano is a class 3 run that everyone can paddle. And remember that although Corsica is partly hardcore whitewater, there are plenty of class 2-3 runs for everyone to enjoy in the early spring sun… So if you always wanted to go to Corsica, or get back there again, whatever your level of kayaking – join us for what promises to be a great week of paddling and social time.

History of the gathering Following the protest to save the free flowing Rizzaneze – organized in 2007 by photographer Raph Thiebaut and resulting in a gathering of nearly 150 paddlers – We (Raph Tiebaut,  Stephane Pion, kayak session & Canoe kayak mag France) decided to organize a festival in Corsica every year (first edition in 2009…). The first edition went off with over 300 people showing up, the 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014 saw even more people!

What does Corsican rivers looks like? During the 2009 edition we gathered a crew of boaters to film the second issue of our video guide series; the Corsica Video guide has been out since March 2010 and is available @ https://www.kayaksession.com/category/kayaktv/video-guide/
