Outdoor Mix Festival, 5 Spots, 5 Sports, 5 Sounds – Durance Valley, Briançon, FRANCE
Kayak Session is proud to be associated with a new kind of event, taking place May 8-12th in the Hautes Alpes district in France, near Briançon and the Durance Valley.
Organized by freestyle C1 legend Alex « Jakette » Besseau along with other key players in extreme sports and music, the festival will encompass five outdoor sports events, all in different locations. In addition a unique venue, each event will also be set to its own style of music.
The mix of adventure sports will include kayaking (of course), mountain biking, paragliding, stand up paddling, kite surfing, long skate, slack lining, and windsurfing. While some will be demo sports, others, like kayaking, will contain a series of competitions. In kayaking, the competitions will include a freestyle jam session, a long creek race (on the Guil), a boater cross (on the Fournel), a giant slalom on the infamous Malafossse rapid, and a sprint (on the Byaisse).
For each event, a different type of sound/ DJ and all sorts of artistic performance will be organized, from light painting, to fireworks, DJ’s, and concerts. A week of adventures, art and performance. This event could be the great surprise of this year’s late spring/ early summer season!
For those not competing, given the number of rivers out there you can always catch up with the evening festivities after a day of cruising on your own.
