Nouria Newman, Female Paddler of the Year – 2025 Paddlers Awards Winners
Congratulations to Nouria Newman for earning the 2025 Paddler of the Year Award, a well-deserved recognition for another unreal season on the water!
Words come missing when trying to talk about Nouria Newman. From first descents to titles to major expeditions on some of the most demanding whitewater in the world, Nouria delivered a year that once again showed why she remains one of the most complete and uncompromising paddlers in the sport, regardless of gender. She opened new sections on the Upper Caquetá in Colombia and the Artogna in Italy, claimed the first female descent and third descent overall of the Upper Verde waterfall, and completed a solo expedition on Madagascar’s Namorona River. Along the way, she added first descents in China and continued to push steep, consequential whitewater across the Alps, Norway, Madagascar, and Mexico. During her many trips around the world, Nouria also ticked off classics such as Tomata One and Two, Devil’s Slide, Panadeiro Slide, and countless others. On the competition side, she won the Enduro World Championships in Samaná, took the top spot at King of the Alps, claimed victory at Veko, and swept the Guizhou Waterfall Race in China. Another Nouria year. Another fabulous year.
