Derby du Vénéon – August 30th, 2025

The Derby du Vénéon is back! This iconic event returns to the Alps, near Grenoble, on August 30th this year, and Kayak Session is delighted to support it.

Last year, during the night between June 20th and 21st, a landslide of 200,000 cubic meters rolled down onto the village of La Bérarde, taking everything in its path but, fortunately, causing no casualties. However, the landslide made running the event impossible.

Today, the Vénéon is once again open to the kayaking community. All sections have been re-opened, and the Derby du Vénéon is also back. This legendary race is the perfect opportunity to rediscover the Vénéon. As before, teams of three will paddle the course together. The river has changed, so the race course will be shared soon.

Due to a prefectoral decree, the road leading to the put-in and take-out points for the Bérarde/Champhorent section remains closed. But no worries: shuttles will be in place to ensure everyone can access the course. Information regarding registration, campsite location, and festivities will also be shared soon.

In the meantime, you can still save the date! We look forward to welcoming many of you on August 30th to experience a unique moment on a river more alive than ever! And as tradition has it, we will all gather in the evening to celebrate the return of this unmissable event.
