TEVA Straight Down Striit 2010 by Ron Fisher
We are back!...
After a one year break Elm will once again become a mecca for steep creek fanatics, waterfall junkies and white water heroes. Take a pen and circle 28th to 30th May in your diary, Straight Down Striit is not to be missed.
The start list for the 2008 event read like a who's who of the international white water kayaking scene; Pat Keller, Antony Yap, Honza Lasko, Arnd Schäftlein, Simon Hirter and local rider and undefeated Straight Down Striit champion Ron Fischer. White water kayaking was showcased at the very highest level to the many spectators.
Straight Down Striit Races
Kayakboatercross is the name of the game, two riders race down 500metres of extremely challenging white water rapids, the first to cross the finish line advances to the next round. There will also be a similar race for recreational kayakers, below the finish line the river relaxes and forms superb rapids for the fun race. All losers have a second chance to win in the Chinese Race, a 50 kayaker mass start on a four metre wide river! You will need a bit of luck, a bit a knowledge and a big dose of bravely to win this race, chaos is guaranteed! Nookie presents the infamous photo competition, remember the winner from 2008? The three best photographs from the themes creek, fun and lifestyle will be selected and prizes awarded. More action, adventure and fun can not be fitted into one day.

Spectators get a riverside seat and can share the thrills and tension of the race with the riders. The Red Bull sound system complete with DJ and event MC will bring the race to life with banging tunes and race commentary.
Straight Down Striit Party
The legendary party at Circus camp Mugg in Engi. Party the night away in a circus big top with live bands and DJs, if you have time there are even a few warm beds in the circus trailers. With no race on Sunday every rider has the chance to party like there's no tomorrow, it's gonna go off big style! The icing on the cake is hot coffee and breakfast on Sunday morning in the circus camp.
