Spade Kayaks New Outfitting Option for 2016

The folks at Spade kayaks have been working on their boats over the winter are now coming with an improved line of Ace of Spade to satisfy all sorts of paddlers and all sort of budgets.

The cockpit rim got revised, the weight have been pushed down even further! and more so the boat comes now in 3 versions: Pro , Whitewater and Basic.

The Spade design team have been focussing consistently on ergonomics and weight optimization: Thanks to the smart design of parts, they have created a sturdy cockpit for a direct and ergonomic interface between the paddler and the boat’s hull. The footrest, thigh braces, seat, hip pads and backrest are all tailored to the ergonomics of a paddler for an untiring day on the river.

The 3 trim levels differ depending on the application and target group. Whereas the Pro is aimed at experts and ergonomic fetishists, the simple Basic version is recommended for canoe schools and whitewater cruisers up to a maximum of WW IV. The Whitewater version in between is however suitable for all kinds of whitewater junkies.

The Whitewater and Pro versions feature the same seat, thigh braces and backrest. The seat and central pillar sit on the middle rail which is directly connected to the boat’s hull resulting in an immensely rigid cockpit area.

In the Pro, the foam pillar is replaced by the so called front bone which the Spade crew developed themselves. That makes the cockpit area even stiffer and frees up more space in the foot area too. The position of the feet has been further improved by the ergonomic Pro footrest. In the first year alone, the Pro footrest prevented many foot injuries and strengthened its unique market position.

The Basic version does without either a foam pillar or a middle rail and features a simple footrest. The sets of fittings (seat cushions and hip pads) are available as accessories.
