Limited number of participants:
According to the freestyle rules, chapter V, the worldcup is an open competition. However if necessary the number of paddlers of each country can be limited.
Worldcup 2008:
If more than 250 paddlers will register for each of the 3 Worldcups there will be a limited number of paddlers per nation. The limit was set because of lack of time. The 3 day event is too short to handle more than 250 competitiors, especially at the last event in Thun (wave).
The limited number is set at 3-15 per nation, depending on participation at the World Championships 2007. Please see the list below fort he number of paddlers for your nation.
The limited team size might change with the first numerical registration (1st of July 2007). Then paddlers on the waiting list (see reg. form) will move up. It is therefore essential that each country sends in a numerical registration. If a country is ready to send in names on 1st of July that is fine as well. According to your first registration the payment will be set at each of the 3 events. Payment is at the spot during bib pick-up. Please be accurate with your numbers – paddlers on the waiting list might miss their possibility to participate.
Each nation decides who they send and register at the Worldcup. There are no sizes for categories. Be fair and give paddlers of each category a spot in the top 15.
Squirt is not included in the limited number. There is no invitation of World Championship medalists or former World Cup winners.
The following formula will be applied:
• Countries that took part in the 2007 World championships max of 15 competitors, plus reserves
• Countries that did not take part max of 3 competitors plus reserves
• Places that are not taken up are distributed equally with priority given to the smaller classes
• For the preliminary entries countries will 1st supply only numbers and names 2nd confirming numbers and names per class and payment confirmation.
