ARCATA, Calif. - July 8, 2009 - Kokatat is pleased to announce that the Ronin Pro Rescue Life Jacket will be available in the USA for 2010. The Ronin Pro was launched in 2007 for the Canadian market, followed by the European market in 2008.
The Ronin Pro offers a trimmed-down profile and unique internal harness, which provides a comfortable secure fit, full spinal protection and improved side protection. Innovations such as reinforced adjustable, thermal molded foam padded shoulders with non-slip Hypalon® grip panels, an integrated sleeve for a cowtail or small tow tether, clip-on accessories, and superlative construction methods set a new standard in life vest design. The shoulders and quick release harness system meet or exceed the strength & release requirements of the United States Coast Guard for swiftwater towing and/or rescue. The Ronin Pro is made with GAIA® PVC-free foam.
This introduction to the US market has been long anticipated. To get to this point, Kokatat drove the multi-year, interagency effort to update the requirements of type 5 rescue harnessed PFD’s to more closely & safely meet the needs of the many and varied users of this important piece of safety equipment. “The success of this effort depended on the participation and cooperation of numerous experts, including representatives of UL, USCG, swiftwater rescue professionals, fire departments, recreational user groups, and other manufacturers,” explains Gibson Mokler - Kokatat PFD Compliance Officer. “Kokatat’s participation ensured that safe and truly UL/USCG compliant type 5 rescue harnessed PFD’s will again be available in the USA.”

Men’s jackets are offered in azul, citrus, orange and cobalt with the women’s styles available in citrus and lime. The Storm Cag, a one-piece combination jacket and spray skirt cover, will continue to be available in orange for exceptional visibility on the water.
TROPOS Light, a soft 2oz. nylon face fabric bonded to a windproof, breathable coating, offers recreational paddlers protection from wind, spray, sun and insects. Garments made from TROPOS Light are capable of being packed down to a small size and tucked behind a seat or under deck lines when not needed. The popular Breeze, Women’s Breeze, Full Blast and Squirt paddling jackets are excellent warm and cool weather garments designed for multiple layering options, and have paddling specific features such as urethane cuffs and collar, accessible pockets and factory sealed seams (except Squirt). The new color pallet offers rich hues for excellent visibility on the water.
