Coal Run 1st Descent (West Virginia Steep Creeking)
This is a first descent of Coal Run, one of West Virginia’s smallest steep creeks. Coal Run drops 600 ft in 1.2 miles starting at the the small town of Cunard and quickly dropping into the New River Gorge. Local paddler Shane Groves along with locals Paul Griffin and Cody Adams put on after heavy rains on top of heavy snow to get the first D.
